Step 5 – Locate the service DCOM Server Process Launcher. Look at its Status column, the status should be Running. (If the status of DCOM Server Process Launcher isn’t Running>>Right click DCOM Server Process Launcher >>Select Start)

Step 6 – Locate the service BitLocker Drive Encryption Service. Look at its Status column, the status should be Running. (If the status of BitLocker Drive Encryption Service isn’t Running>>Right click BitLocker Drive Encryption Service>>Select Start)

Method 2: Start Windows Update Service

Windows Update Service automates the downloading and installing of Microsoft Windows software update over internet. So, you have to make sure that Windows Update Service is in Running status and startup type is set to automatic. The steps for doing so are given below:

Step 1 – Hold Windows Key > Press R to launch Run.

Step 2 – Now, type services.msc. Press Enter > Launch Windows Services.

Step 3 – Locate the service Windows Update. Double click it to open its Properties.

Step 4 – In Windows Update Properties find Startup Type and from the dropdown choose Automatic.

Step 5 – Check the Service status. If the status isn’t set to Running click the Start button in that section to start it.

Step 6 – Click Apply and then OK to save and implement the changes

Doing this sets your Windows Update Service to running condition and makes the startup type automatic. Now check whether your Windows Updates are working error free. If yes, kudos to you and get the updates. But if you are still seeing the same error code 0x80070422 then move to the next method.

Method 3: Disabling IPv6

Most users claim that disabling IPv6 helped them to resolve this issue. So, to do that follow the instructions given below:

Step 1 – Hold Windows Key>> Press R to launch Run.

Step 2 – Now, type ncpa.cpl. Press Enter to launch the Network and Sharing centre.

Step 3 – Find the Internet connection that you are connected to right now. Right click on it and select Properties.

Step 4 – You must be seeing a list of items under ‘This connection uses the following items’. Find Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) in that list and uncheck it.

Step 5 – Click OK to save the changes.

Step 6 – Restart your computer and see if the error is fixed.

The disabling of IPv6 can also be done using Registry Editor. Follow the steps given below to disable it using Registry Editor.

Step 1 – Type regedit into the Search bar. Choose Registry Editor from the list of results.

Step 2 – Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTCPIP6Parameters. 

Step 3 – Right-click the Parameters on the left pane. Then, choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 4 – In the name field enter DisabledComponents.

Step 5 – Right-click the new DisabledComponents value and choose Modify. Verify that the base is hexadecimal and then enter ffffffff as Value data and press OK to save changes.

Step 6 – Close Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Once computer restarts, check to see if the Error Code 0x80070422 is solved.

Method 4: Enable/Disable Network List Service

A lot of users have confirmed that restarting the Network List Service fixed the problem for them. In other words, all you need to do is turn this service off and then turn it back on or simply restart it. Follow the steps given below to do so:

Step 1 – Hold Windows Key and press R to launch Run.

Note – Select Disabled from the drop down menu in Startup Type if the Startup Type is either Automatic or Manual. Click Stop in the Service Status section if the status is Running.

Step 5 – Click on Apply and then OK to save the changes.
